Reinstall Internet Explorer 6

Microsoft Windows XP won't allow you to uninstall Internet Explorer. How can you fix the browser or even reinstall the program if it becomes corrupt?

If you don't yet have the very latest Internet Explorer, you can fix many problems by visiting

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

and updating to the latest version. If you're already up to date, however, the site won't let you reinstall the program. You need to fool the system into thinking you don't have the latest version.

Launch REGEDIT from the Start menu's Run dialog and navigate to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{89820200-ECBD-11cf-8B85-00AA005B4383}. In the right-hand pane, double-click on the DWORD value IsInstalled and change it from 1 to 0 (no matter whether you choose Decimal or Hexadecimal). Close REGEDIT and go to the Windows update site again. Now it should let you "update" IE and, with luck, fix the problems.

By the way, you can do the same thing if you need to repair Outlook Express, but at the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{44BBA840-CC51-11CF-AAFA-00AA00B6015C}.

Burning BIN/CUE Images with Nero

BIN/CUE image format is quite common on the Internet. It might seem that finding an appropriate software for burning these images is quite hard. Luckily, it's not. you can also use Nero to burn the images.

Please make sure that you have the latest version of Nero,

Verify the CUE-sheet and open it with Nero
Before doing anything else you have to verify that the path in the CUE-sheet is correct. A CUE-sheet is a plaintext file describing the structure and the location of the BIN-file. You can open up the .CUE -file using, for example, Notepad.

The file should look something like this:

FILE "IMAGE.BIN" BINARY
TRACK 01 MODE1/2352
INDEX 01 00:00:00

Usually the CUE-filename and the BIN-filename have the same body -- e.g. IMAGE. All you need to do is verify that there is no path information on the
FILE "IMAGE.BIN" BINARY
-line. Ie. it should NOT read e.g.
FILE "C:\TEMP\IMAGE.BIN" BINARY
If there is any path information on the line, just remove it so that you have just the name of the .BIN-file as in the example above. Also make sure that the name of the .BIN in the CUE-sheet is the same as the actual .BIN file you have on hard-disk.

Next load Nero and choose File, Burn Image....

Load the CUE-sheet in Nero
Choose the Files of Type: dropdown menu and select All Files *.*. Next just locate the .CUE file, select it and click Open. Make sure you select the .CUE -file, not the .BIN -file.

Burn the image
All you have to do then is choose the writing speed, select the Disc-At-Once Write Method, and click Write.

That's it! After a couple of minutes you'll have a CD with the BIN/CUE Image written on it.

NOTES:
--> Do not worry if the BIN file seems larger than the capacity of your CD-R or CD-RW. Bin files are raw data and once burned, the file size is smaller.

--> If you have a DVD burner, just burn the cue/bin directly onto the DVD. Then use Daemon Tools to mount the cue/bin image when you use the files. This way you maintain a true exact image. And Daemon Tools (also Alcohol CDR burning software, which has the same feature) mounts the image, and you see the files instead of the bin/cue.

The difference between DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RW

There's DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, and even DVD-ROM! So what's the difference between all of these different names, aren't all DVDs the same? Well, it's not quite that simple.

Let's first start with the most obvious difference: some have R and some have RW. The "R" stands for readable, while the "W" stands for writeable.

The main difference between DVD-R and DVD-RW, or DVD+R and DVD+RW is that the R disc formats can only be written to once, and then it is only readable and can’t be erased for the rest of its digital life. While RW discs are can be written to and erased many times, they are both readable and writeable.

"R" discs are perfect if they are only needed to be written to once, such as giving some files to a friend or transferring them between PCs. "RW" discs have their strength in the ability to be used many times over, which is great for routine system backups, etc. And naturally, the RW discs are slightly more expensive than the R discs, but you'll have to decide if the trade offs are worth the money.

Now, onto the difference between DVD-R and DVD+R. As I just described above, DVD-R & DVD-RW are sister discs, the difference being one is writeable once, while the other is writeable multiple times. The same thing is true for DVD+R & DVD+RW. So the question is, what's the difference between the plus and minus?

In order to explain this we must take a trip back in time. When DVDs were first being developed, there was no industry standard. Multiple companies were competing to develop what they hoped would be the dominant form of the future.

The DVD-R DVD+R difference can easily be summarized by the following:

* The DVD-R/RW standard was developed by Pioneer, and is used primarily by Apple and Pioneer. These "minus" discs can only be written to in one layer on the discs surface. In addition, this format is supported by the DVD forum, but is in no way an industry standard. DVD-R/RW discs are cheaper than the "plus" format.
* The DVD+R/RW format is supported by Philips, Dell, Sony, HP, and Mcft. These discs can be written to in multiple layers, giving them slightly better and more disc storage than the "minus" format. Because of this additional capacity, they are slightly more expensive than "minus" discs.

A couple final things to clear up is the difference between DVD-ROM and DVD+RW, or the other DVD formats I mentioned above. The DVD-ROM drive can only read DVDs, while the other DVD drives can read and write data to DVDs.

And naturally the DVD+RW CD+RW difference can be explained by the "DVD" or "CD" prefix. DVDs, on average, can store up to 4.7 GB of data, while a CD can only store about 700 MB of data, or about 15% of a DVD's capacity. While CDs are slightly cheaper, in my opinion, the benefits of DVDs are much greater.

So now that you've learned about the difference between DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, and even DVD-ROM, which one is right for you? The easiest way to determine which is more beneficial is to watch the industry trends. A few years ago all pre-built computers were shipping with DVD-ROM drives. Today, most PCs have a burnable DVD drive.

I feel that the benefits of having a burnable DVD drive far outweigh any additional costs. They store much more data, and they are ideal for storing your home movies to watch on your DVD player.

My advice is to look at DVD burners that support all of the major formats I've mentioned above, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, and DVD+RW. While a DVD drive that supports all of these formats may be slightly more expensive, it will allow you to use any type of DVD disc to burn to, and you'll be protected from any industry shifts to one format or the other.

Optimize Broadband & Dsl Connections

These settings allow you to boost the speed of your broadband Internet connection when using a Cable Modem or DSL Router with Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create the following DWORD values, as most of these values will not already exist you will need to create them by clicking on 'Edit -> New -> DWORD Value' and then set the value as shown below.

DefaultTTL = "80" hex (or 128 decimal)
Specifies the default time to live (TTL) for TCP/IP packets. The default is 32.

EnablePMTUBHDetect = "0"
Specifies whether the stack will attempt to detect Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) routers that do not send back ICMP fragmentation-needed messages. The default is 0.

EnablePMTUDiscovery = "1"
Specifies whether the TCP/IP stack will attempt to perform path MTU discovery as specified in RFC 1191. The default is 1.

GlobalMaxTcpWindowSize = "7FFF" hex (or 32767 decimal)
Specifies the system maximum receive window size advertised by the TCP/IP stack.

TcpMaxDupAcks = "2"
Determines the number of duplicate ACKs that must be received for the same sequence number of sent data before "fast retransmit" is triggered.

SackOpts = "1"
Enables support for selective acknowledgements as documented by Request for Comment (RFC) 2018. Default is 0.

Tcp1323Opts = "1"
Controls RFC 1323 time stamps and window scaling options. Possible values are: "0" = disable RFC 1323 options, "1" = window scale enabled only, "2" = time stamps enabled only and "3" = both options enabled.

TcpWindowSize = "7FFF" hex (or 32767 decimal)
Specifies the receive window size advertised by the TCP/IP stack. If you have a latent network you can try increasing the value to 93440, 186880, or 372300.

Exit your registry and restart Windows for the changes to take effect.

If you don’t want to edit the registry, here's a little TCP utility that is ideal...

How To Boot Xp Faster - Latest

First of all, this tweak only apply to those who only have one HDD on their primary IDE channel (nothing else on device 0 or 1) and a CD-ROM and/or DVD-ROM on the secondary IDE channel. Each time you boot Windows XP, there's an updated file called NTOSBOOT-*.pf who appears in your prefetch directory (%SystemRoot%Prefetch) and there's no need to erease any other files as the new prefetch option in XP really improves loading time of installed programs. We only want WindowsXP to boot faster and not decrease its performance. Thanks to Rod Cahoon (for the prefetch automation process...with a minor change of mine) and Zeb for the IDE Channel tweak as those two tricks, coupled together with a little modification, result in an EXTREMELY fast bootup:

1. Open notepad.exe, type "del c:windowsprefetch tosboot-*.* /q" (without the quotes) & save as "ntosboot.bat" in c:
2. From the Start menu, select "Run..." & type "gpedit.msc".
3. Double click "Windows Settings" under "Computer Configuration" and double click again on "Shutdown" in the right window.
4. In the new window, click "add", "Browse", locate your "ntosboot.bat" file & click "Open".
5. Click "OK", "Apply" & "OK" once again to exit.
6. From the Start menu, select "Run..." & type "devmgmt.msc".
7. Double click on "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers"
8. Right click on "Primary IDE Channel" and select "Properties".
9. Select the "Advanced Settings" tab then on the device 0 or 1 that doesn't have 'device type' greyed out select 'none' instead of 'autodetect' & click "OK".
10. Right click on "Secondary IDE channel", select "Properties" and repeat step 9.
11. Reboot your computer.

WindowsXP should now boot REALLY faster.

Make Your PC Faster - Gauranteed

Normal User :

1. First, run a scandisk or checkdisk. Let Windows fix any errors.

2. Run a disk cleanup utility...this will flush your temporary internet folder, trash can, temp system files, etc.

3. Delete any garbage files or data...if possible, run a Duplicate File Finder program.

4. Run Defrag on all partitions (NOTE: run this after you have deleted all trash and excess files!)

5. Run a registry cleaner utility and delete or get rid of any orphaned entries in that registry.

6. Check your exisiting swap file for it's size and location (*will explain location later in the post). If you have alot of ram (i.e. 1 gig and over) set this swap file to something small, like 250 mb. The reason is that this will force Windows to load more into memory, resulting in faster performance (note: some games and applications actually require a certain sized swap file so check your applications performance after making a size adjustment for any error messages.)

7. Under XP, you can tell Windows to use Classic Style on your desktop, - this will remove the neat single click and internet-style desktop but for lower end systems this will improve performance in other areas, such as gaming and multi-tasking.

8. Run msconfig and under startup and only keep the programs that are essential to load in the tray icon (and hence stay resident in memory). Uncheck anything else non-essential, like an ATI or Nvidia control panel, Quicktime utility, Real Audio, etc.

9. Upgrade drivers! Check for the latest BIOS, video, motherboard, sound, etc drivers from the manufacturers. Alot of my friends had chipsets on their motherboard that had advanced disk management capabilities or AGP port settings but the drivers weren't loaded for them so they were never being used. A simple upgrade realized a noticeable difference. For instance, they didn't have the latest driver for their AGP port so it was set to 1x, instead of being used at 4x!

10. (OK, so this won't speed up your PC but it could save you alot of time and trouble later on!) After making all these improvements, make a working backup! I use Ghost, but for XP users you can also use System Restore...

-FOR ADVANCED USERS ONLY-

1. Take a look under the hood (for IDE owners). How are your IDE devices configured? If you have more than 1 hard drive, put the master hard drive on the primary IDE channel and the secondary hard drive on the secondary IDE channel (most motherboards have two IDE channels).

2. Place all CDROM drives, DVD readers etc. on the secondary IDE channel (or SCSI bus, etc). This will reduce I/O contention with your master hard drive which should have your OS and apps installed...

3. Remember when I mentioned the location of the swap file? OK, if you have 2 hard drives and you have one on the primary IDE channel and the other on the secondary IDE channel, move the swap file to a partition ON THE SECOND hard drive (on the secondary IDE channel). This will greatly improve system performance as the PC can write to the swap file while loading and running OS and system commands without I/O contention on the primary IDE channel!

4. Take a look under the hood (for SCSI owners) What kind of SCSI do you have? If it's the newer Ultra 160/320 etc cards then guess what? Any devices placed on the same bus will automatically default to the slowest drive on the chain...this means that if you have say, an Ultra 160 SCSI card, and it has an Ultra 160 drive (capable of transferring 160 mb/sec) on the same chain as a SCSI cdrom drive (capable of only 40 mb/sec) then the whole bus slows down to the 40 mb/sec speed...use different chains for the slower devices and maximize those hard drives!

5. Run a utility like WCPUID and check the settings...is your CPU/front speed bus/AGP port running as fast as they should be? If not, check your drivers and BIOS configuration options. Also, are all of your chipset features enabled? If not, then enable them! (usually done in your BIOS!)

6. Dig in to the BIOS...check settings like boot order, for example...is it checking the floppy first? Change this! Select your order to reflect the hard drive first, then CD, then floppy for a noticeable boot time improvement. Also disable any non-used on board peripherals...for instance, - does your motherboard come with an on-board NIC card? Guess what, if you don't use that NIC card and it is enabled it will eat up valuable CPU cycles and can be detrimental to your systems' performance. DISABLE THAT MUTHA! Also, see if you can play with memory timing and CPU clock frequencies (NOTE! This is for expert users only!) Set these timings to "Aggressive" and see what happens in your games and apps...Also, check to see what your video aperature is set to. If you have a video card with 128 megs of on-baord memory, your aperature should be set to this amount too. Read the BIOS owner manual for further non-general performance tricks or improvements! Do you have the latest BIOS firmware version?

7. Under hardware properties, check to see that everything is working properly, and fix any hardware contention issues. You'll see the dreaded yellow exclamation point (!) beside any hardware componenet that is not working correctly.

8. Evaluate the potential for system/hardware upgrades...usually, the best bang for the buck is adding memory so buy all that you can afford (don't go much above 512 megs for Win 98 or ME). If you have a motherboard with an 8x - capable AGP port but you are using an older 4x video card, consider upgrading to an 8x card. You get the idea here...

9. Quit using software pigs like Norton system utilities, etc. These place files everywhere and can be a real system resource hog on lower end PCs.

10. Did I mention to make a good backup? Do it now! Also, while you're at it, run a good virus program with the latest definitions.

There are more options to make your system faster, such as overclocking, etc. but (just about) everything I've mentioned in this tech post costs you nothing and will result in faster system performance! Good luck and if you have any questions on how to do anything mentioned here, ask a knowledgeable friend or consult a book, - don't mess up something trying to do something you are not sure of!

CRACKED to work on almost all PCs.This is a copy of Mac OS X leopard hacked to work on a PC. It was branded as LEO4ALL. it will work on both intel and amd processors and most chip sets the one difference between this copy and apple's copy is the fact that it has a text based boot to install it put in the cd then at the first prompt press F8 then type in "platform=x86pc" no quotes (this is not necessary it just makes things faster). Then when the GUI (Graphical user interface) comes up just click next and i agree like anything else when it asks you where to install it go to the top of the screen ->utilities->disk utility chose a disk partition it with the default FS (File system). Quit the disk utility select the disk click next, click customize then chose the packages you want then click next. Go ahead and walk your dog (the install takes a while) and tada Leopard on your pc!

Free Download Watermark Master

A special application for conversion of video and image files with adding any kinds of watermarks to them

Watermark Master is a multifunctional video editor primarily intended for conversion of video and image files with adding any kinds of watermarks to them. Clear interface and the presence of Wizard make the program easy-to-operate even for people who do not possess any special knowledge.

Watermark Master possesses all necessary functions for editing of videos and images: a broad set of filters (including Deinterlace), 6 resampling algorithms, color adjustment feature, ability to flip, rotate, sharpen or soften image, ability to set timelines and many others. It also includes Grabber function (creation of thumbnails and image galleries of video files) and ability to process files as they are added to folder (so-called Watch Folder function).

Watermark Master enables creation of all imaginable kinds of watermarks: text, video, animated GIF, image, rectangle, blur area, creeping line and audio.Display time can be assigned for any kind of watermark. In the Preview area all watermarks can be displayed either taking or without taking their display time into account.

Watermark Master is optimized for batch processing (processing a great number of files per one pass). A folder with files can be added as source file. Files in the folder can be processed by mask here; subfolders recursive processing can be activated in case of need. Flexible mechanism of construction of the output file name enables to preserve the original hierarchy of folders regardless of its complexity.

Watermark Master is intended above all for creation of video and image galleries with adding to every frame some information about its author. Also it can be recommended to be used for batch conversion of video files from one format to another and ripping DVDs. Besides Watermark Master may be useful for creation of various montage effects.

Creation of Watermarks.
Watermark Master allows to create videos with adding to them watermarks of the following kinds:
* Text - represents a simple text watermark. Wide range of dynamic variables is available for this kind. Font, font size, font color and some other properties can be modified. Stroke effect can be applied to increase text readability.
* Image - is based on a graphic file. A number of properties can be modified for this kind of watermark: size, transparent color, rotation angle, etc.
* Blur Area - is rectangle or elliptic blur area with adjustable size, blur strength and transparency. It enables to partly hide the unwanted elements of video or image; also it can be perfectly used as a background for another watermark.
* Rectangle - is rectangle area filled with specified color. It can be used as a background for another watermark.
* Video - is based on a video file. It is a kind of dynamic watermarks that represents a video file put over the processed one. Audio stream of the put file also can be included in case of need. Transparency, repetition and a few more properties can be modified.
* Animated GIF - is based on an animated GIF file. It is another kind of dynamic watermarks that represents an animated GIF file put over the processed video file.
* Creeping Line - represents a text watermark sliding along the frame in the predetermined direction during playback of the processed video file. Slide speed, delay in appearance and a few more properties can be modified.
* Audio - represents an audio file replacing audio stream of the processed media file. Volume, repetition and a few more properties can be modified.
Display time can be assigned for any kind of watermark. In the Preview area all watermarks can be displayed either taking or without taking their display time into account.

Hidden Encoding.
Watermark Master enables processing files without opening the main application and showing GUI. For that one can set parameters of processing for some folder via Windows Explorer and afterwards just add (upload) the necessary files to the folder - Watermark Master will singly process them as they are added. This functionality can be used for encoding files on server via web interface, and so it may be eminently helpful to webmasters.

Video Editing.
Watermark Master includes broad set of filters (including Deinterlace) for editing video and images files, 6 resampling algorithms, color adjustment feature, ability to flip, rotate, sharpen or soften image and many others.
The application enables to define sections of a media file that should be added to the output file or, on the contrary, removed. When processing a great number of files, the sections can be defined the same for all source files or individually for each of them. The number of sections is not limited. The output file(s) can be previewed before encoding.
Crop feature can be applied in order to process only the selected area of the source file frame and cut off the rest of it (can be used, for example, for trimming black stripes along the edges of videos and images). When processing a great number of files, Crop can be set in the same way for all source files or individually for each of them.

Montage Feature
Watermark Master includes the Montage feature that allows to add video scenes, add images as scenes, replace audio stream of the processed file with another one, etc. By means of this feature one can create video files of any complexity. Besides it enables to process more than one file at once according to the same montage scheme: say, if you have a hundred files and want to add some video scene to the beginning of each of them, you'll have to spend just a few clicks for that!

Batch Processing
Watermark Master is optimized for batch processing (processing a great number of files per one pass). A folder with files can be added as source file. Files in the folder can be processed by mask here; subfolders recursive processing can be activated in case of need. Flexible mechanism of construction of the output file name enables to preserve the original hierarchy of folders regardless of its complexity.

Grabber
Watermark Master can grab individual frames of any video file and save them in a graphic format. It enables to grab the first frame of a movie, grab frames regularly (say, every 5 seconds) or grab the first frame of each of equal movie's parts (number of parts can be set here). Besides, Watermark Master can process more than one profile at once, which enables to create both video files and thumbnails per one pass.

User Interface
Watermark Master possesses handy and clear interface, system of hints that makes getting used to the program easier, and Wizard that provides quick and simple access to almost all available operations.

Field of Use
The program is intended above all for creation of video and image galleries with adding to every frame some information about its author. Also it can be recommended to be used for batch conversion of video files from one format to another and ripping DVDs. Besides Watermark Master may be useful for creation of various montage effects.

Here are some key features of "Watermark Master":

In fact, just drag any image on to Deep and it will find and rank all the images on your computer that are similar.

Find by size or shape.

Tags and keywords.
Tag any image. This makes it extremely easy to find images, regardless of their location. Why hunt through an arcane hierarchy of folders and files to find the image you want? Knowing Mobile Files Extension

Knowing Files Extension (sis/jar/zip/ace/rar)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

.sis = Symbian installation file,

.jar = Java installation,

Note about .jar files. You don't need to extract the .jar files into your PC, juest send them to your phone directly. By the way, if you get a.zip (or other extension) and when extract its content you get lot of files and folders, files like \META-INF\MANIFEST.MF, or *.class, it should be a .jar file... then, don't extract, just rename the main .zip to .jar. and send to your phone.

.zip = The standard compressed file, you can use winzip to extract the content... www.winzip.com

.ace = Other format of compressed file: www.winace.com

.rar = And the compressed format about everybody ask... www.rarlabs.com

Note: Its always best to extract .zip, .ace & .rar files on your PC first as your phone can only most of the time.
