Update your computer. Sometimes, you simply need an update to fix compatibility issues between your printer and Microsoft Windows. Click "Start." Go to "All Programs." Click "Windows Update." Click "Update Now." After the update downloads and installs, reboot your computer. This may fix your issue.

Clear a paper jam. While all printers have varying components, you can follow a general set of steps to clear any jam. Turn your printer off. Open the feeder cover to your printer. Physically remove any jams you can reach with your hands. Replace the cover. Turn the printer back on.

Change your ink cartridge. Turn your printer off. Open the front cover. Press down on the tabs on your printer cartridge. Pull the cartridge out. Insert a new cartridge into position. Close the front cover and turn your printer back on. You should now be able to print again.
